The philosophy of the Dogblock is simple: the power distributor gets inspired by the good designs that already exist on the market, improves on them technically and adds amazingly precise craftsmanship. Everything is effective and puristic in an attractive way.
Function and form
When I took the Dogblock in hands it gave me a feel of a metal brick. The device is assembled from three parts that are so precisely machined from a solid billet of metal that they virtually stick together without any bolts. Of course there are bolts, but they would not have to be. The Block's logo is milled directly into the aluminum-magnesium case that is available in natural aluminum finish or in black anodized version.
The Dogblock uses nylon-carbon Furutech FI-E30 Schuko outlets that are clamped between two aluminum plates to prevent resonances. The IEC socket is Furutech too, the all nylon FI-09.
Bass management
The Dogblock can be configured on order - both gold plated and rhodium plated outlets are available. I recommend to look at synergies in your system to minimize electricial incompatibilities of two metals (like gold-plated prong in rhodium plated outlet). The Dogblock ccan be had with the original Snakeblock power cord (again, it is available in many different configurations) so some planning will be necessary.
The Dogblock versions also differ in the number of the outlets - there are 4 or 6 or 8 versions available.

There is only one possible way how to evaluate a power distributor. It should distribute without stripping muic off anything. There are no filters, transformers, filtration ferrites, diodes... nothing. It is just about how to multiply the number of outlets for your hifi. Thus it does not make sense to expect big sonic improvements against the direct-into-wall solution (though the case is not so simple as there is always an interaction between an audio device and an attached powercord). What I was interested in then? Does the Dogblock induce any dynamic limiting? Does it soften tranzients? Does it impair transparency? Well, the resume is that the Dogblock is like the best power distributor I have reviewed to date, Quantum Resonant Technology's QBase QB4 (or QB6 or QB8): it just distributes the power and does so with aplomb.
