AUDIODROM's BACKSTAGE

Who are the people behind the Audiodrom magazine? We are not a professional magazine, so how do we see our hobby? As you'll learn, our opinions are often very different and it is good - the diversity of opinions lends a bit more objectivity to our articles and reviews.

No matter how hard we try to get closer to a real performance, there will always be one important limiting factor: The high end audio is about listening to a recorded performance, not to a live one, and the recording quality is the only starting point that we have. Unfortuntaly it is rather a rule than an exception that your favourite piece of music is a sonic crap. An astronomically priced piece of equipment will not help us enjoy the sound, but it can help us enjoy the music more. My recommendation si simple: focus on enjoying the music, and use the equipment as carrier, not vice versa.

Higher and deeper, with more precision and more resolution - high audio helps you to realize any dreams with sufficient budget allowance. Unfortunately. Excellent equipment as well as excellent program material is something we need to pay for. However, there are gems, that cost much less than expected and have an unbeatable price to performance ratio - Audiodrom is about searching for such the gems.

It is not easy to stop the audiophile disease and start loving you current audio set up. It is also important to stop reading revies in magazines - that's why I write them instead :-). The search for the absolute sound is endless for some simple reason: there is nothing like the absolute sound. The high end is a kind of philosophy, balancing your preferences and expectations... like searching for your life partner - the choice is vast, upgrades are available and switching to someone 'better' may not be a good decision for many years to come ;)
