Everything I’ve already described about the smaller Atalante 5 model applies to the Atalante 7 Évo as well; after all, they’re based on the same design principles. It’s just that the sound has matured even further.
The fact that Revival Audio speakers look like a classic textbook example of a speaker system might lead one to assume they’re just your average “all-around” speakers. But that’s not true. The Atalante 7 Évo are definitely not a tool that will forgive mistakes elsewhere in the system. They react sensitively to any changes anywhere in the entire chain—a fact that not only the Kuzma turntables, which were paired with them, but also the speaker cables could attest to. There used to be (and, unfortunately, still are) rules of thumb stating that speakers should be the most expensive component in a system. This is partly true, because the distortion from any pair of speakers is orders of magnitude higher than that of anything else in the playback chain. However, we no longer live in a world where price reflects the true state of affairs. Moreover, even the most spectacular investment in speakers will be of no use to you if there’s a weak link right at the start—in the power supply, the switch, or perhaps the phono cartridge. The Atalante 7 Évo speakers are so advanced that I wouldn’t hesitate to pair them with anything, and they could easily be the least expensive component in the system. When set up correctly, they sound truly sensational, and I wouldn’t mind living with them at all.
